BHM Day 12: Clive Davis

Yes, I am aware that Clive Davis isn't Black and this is supposed to be about Black History, but this is my thing so shut the hell up. I am shining the light on Mr. Davis because in the wake of Whitney's death I started thinking about how huge he was in her career and to music in general. He guided Whit's career in its early stages. When Whitney strayed and needed a comeback, she gave credit to Clive for putting her back on track.

Clive also was responsible for putting Alicia Keys on. He took someone who was a bit rough around the edges and turned her into one of the biggest names in music. He did the same for Jennifer Hudson after she LOST American Idol. I'm pretty sure she's ok with the fact that she lost her season. I don't even know who won.

Mr Davis clearly knows how to spot talent regardless of his race. WIthout him, the world might not have ever known Whitney, Alicia or Jennifer in the capacity that we now know them. It's crazy to think that a Jewish man could be so important to Black music. So today, I am going to shine the BHM spotlight on Clive Davis, an honorary brotha. Enjoy your status Mr Davis, but don't get crazy and think you can start dropping the N word. Also, I would really love an invitation to next year's pre Grammy party. Thanks!

**I just read online (so take it for what it's worth) that he was integral to the founding of LaFace and Bad Boy Records, both labels were responsible in signing tons of black talent. See, so this award wasn't so out of left field. Say you're sorry. I'll wait...
